Riding local, riding abroad. Doesn't matter. "One less car" bike commuting and "Bikes Belong" advocacy, plus "I ride solo" bicycle travel. Racing is fun, but there are so many equally great reasons to ride.

Dr. Lillquist of CWU leads field trip
"Landforms and landscapes south of Coulee City", part of an ongoing study of ice age floods. Learned about channeled scablands, coulees, Glacial Lake Missoula, ice damsels and its jokulhlaups (glacial outburst floods). Drove to BLM land above Trail Lake coulee. Now know about Kolks (vertical vortices of flood water), plucking (basalts ripped out by water to create deep steep sided potholes , and soil mounds created of windborne silt (wind erosion)
