Riding local, riding abroad. Doesn't matter. "One less car" bike commuting and "Bikes Belong" advocacy, plus "I ride solo" bicycle travel. Racing is fun, but there are so many equally great reasons to ride.

Saturday July 9
> 59 miles and more than 2100' elevation on a cloudy July Saturday with broken sunshine. Nice run from Kalaloch Lodge along 101 to the turn east into Clearwater after a stop at the Queets Trading Post, the only service for today, so got a Frappuccino and sour gummies. In hindsight I should have skipped the candy and bought a second drink as this was a 2+ bike bottle ride.

An afternoon in Brooklyn
My first time walking over the Brooklyn Bridge and enjoying the sights of the city. Very hot and humid.
New York Public Library
I don't remember the last time I was here but it was bittersweet to be in an old fashioned temple of learning. The 1974 photo of the Rose Reading Room staff made me smile. I definitely belong to a different generation. The door into the reading room still has magic in it.

Columbia city on Saturday
So much road work near 520 but it meant lake Washington Blvd E north was blocked to cars.
31.7 miles, avg 9mph and a 709 calorie ride according to my
ELEMNT bolt device. Stopped at overpriced French cafe In Madison Park to have quiche and an iced latte as it was a long time since breakfast. Everyone is out riding in the arboretum. Weather improved by 3pm and turned hot.
