To wrap up my visit to Salzburg I bought a 28,00 Euro ticket for the 19:30 performance of Richard Strauss's Die Fledermaus, which is a rather silly story that provides the frame on which to hang the most famous waltzes in the world.
It was great fun to see 3 puppet dancers perform the Blue Danube Waltz, along with several bats who reprised the waltz as part of a drunken partygoer's dream.
The puppets in this shot are from 1913, when the company first performed.
They put on a grand show and the puppets are works of art.
