At pedestrian pace, you get to enjoy the decorative tile medallions set into the tunnel walls. In the shadowy depth you see tiles of lobsters, porpoises, eels, crabs and flat fish. You also see this one: 4 rats sniffing around a bargeman's lost knee high boot.
Hey, this is gritty Hamburg. The artist I think is called Perl.
It's a wonderful insight into a pre war Germany that few remember.
