Riding local, riding abroad. Doesn't matter. "One less car" bike commuting and "Bikes Belong" advocacy, plus "I ride solo" bicycle travel. Racing is fun, but there are so many equally great reasons to ride.

At Landungsbrucken on Saturday Morning
This must be a German equivalent of organised bike tour company Back Roads. This group of cyclists were getting ready for a ride through the St Pauli Elbtunnel, an underwater tunnel built in 1911. This piece of very early C20th technology is a curious outing on Hamburg. You descend 40 feet from the surface and walk or bike one quarter of a mile in a dimly lit tunnel under the Elbe River, then ascend for a view back at Hamburg's waterfront.
