Friday breakfast

Artichoke ricotta spread and late summer greens from the garden. A pleasant change of pace as I'm between activities.

Back to civilization and a late lunch in Roslyn

Blue bird sky of Eastern Washington

Tucquala Lake outbound

Farewell constant companions

My boots deserve a Viking burial. Been to New Zealand, Australia, Argentina, Nepal, Utah, Arizona, and all over WA. So many memories in these lugs.

Leaving the PCT near Cathedral Pass

Such an airy feeling up here above Hyas Lake and the valley trail to Deception Pass.

Just ripe enough for oatmeal on hike out day (Wednesday)

The toy box

Despite mosquitoes, horseflies, heat and covid face covers

35 feet of turnpike

Done and dusted!

PCT through hikers

PCT back to camp

Circle Lake up there

Stomping it down on Day 2

“Borrowing” fill from a borrow hole

Cathedral Rock in Deep Lake

Ahhh

Deep and green

Knocking off time is 3pm

This is why it's worth it.

Sunday’s effort

Excavation of an old puncheon bridge, uncovered stringers, then methodically fill with rocks and gravel to French Drain it.

Wonderful meadows

With view of Mt Daniels and the saddle that hides Peggy's Pond.

Deep Lake

The destination, and home for 4 nights.

View of Cathedral Rock

Still plenty of lupines. Crazy summer.

Saturday hiking into Deep Lake

Late start as traffic bad for a couple of the volunteers, and the 10 miles of dirt road in pretty bumpy and dusty. Then nowhere to park! I've never seen such A mobbed trailhead. Thanks Covid

Start of my Deep Lake WTA Volunteer “Vacation”

Hey, my 11# of trip food is going in by mule! Yeah! This is the North Bend storage unit where Isabel checked it in. Now, driving to Roslyn and thence to the TH for a Saturday morning check in and 7.7 miles / 2200' hike in.
