Just because

Today's cloudy so, despite my solstice morning 12.3 mile bike round around Magnolia Bluff, I feel a little low. It's an anniversary for me and I am alone. The antidote is to sit with the feeling for a while, with a cut glass bowl of roses at my left elbow. The smell as sweet as they look. My June roses this season are fabulous. It makes the bitter sweet of the anniversary more bearable.

47.5 miles in heaven

Bayview to Edison to Bow to Lake Samish to Chuckanut Drive and then back through Bow. A wonderful ride just before summer solstice.

In Rhody in Bow

An alcoholic ginger beer to go with dinner. I have to stop and eat. I'm out of snacks and will bonk without some fuel. It's been a hot ride and more challenging than I remember.

Lake Samish

Too many jet skis for such a nice beach.

Slow on the Slough

The tide is turning.

Breakfast at Farm to Market Bakery in Bow, WA

It's almost one year to the day when I was last here: enroute to Fairhaven and the Alaska bound ferry. Today I'm Rita favorite loop: Bayview/Bow/Edison/Lake Samish/Chuckanut Drive/Bow and back to the car park.

I love rose season every spring

My beauties never disappoint. A little earlier this year: mid-May! All I did was prune them around a Presidents' weekend and weed. Amazing! It's all to do with the location, against a stockade fence to capture the heat.

May in Seattle

When done, I'll have harvested about 20 of these glorious chokes from my faithful plant. I'm guessing it's now 20 years old and going strong.
