Flix bus PDX to SEA

I made it from LAX to PDX on Delta but then it was an weekend of cancellations for revenue customers, so I took MAX to union station and my first ride on this service. Got to sea Airport by 6pm, so another long day of travel but home feels good. My cold isn't helping so this trip was more stressful than planned. Heat waves everywhere so that's crazy. What a mixed start to my retirement summer!

Friday June 25 tourist LA

With one of us hindered by tender blisters and the other needing to sleep 12 hours in the Westin, we wisely chose a not-so-secret tour of Hollywood. I don't know Mulholland Drive or Rodeo Drive or Beverly Hills except from the movies, so it was a "wow what is that? I know it!" trip which was very enjoyable with the wryly good natured tour leader, and just the ticket for a recovery day.

Well it is Los Angeles!

Buffalo!

Wonderful riparian areas

Not something you can see from any road.

Back to the mainland on Thu

Yes we walked those ridges!

Revised destination

Organized a ride back to Avalon with Lance of Catalina bikes. More up and down crappy trail with blisters and heat really not ideal. We've used up all the electrolyte mix we've packed and it's time to be smart.

Airport in the sky is today’s goal

Blackjack Camp 10.7 miles from Hermit Gulch on Wednesday morning

Afternoon hot and scenic and hard to carry enough water

Topping out (sort of) above Avalon

Day 0 of hiking

SWA flight to Long Beach via Oakland. Premium view of the Golden Gate Bridge and a view of Catalina Island. Much better weather than what I left.

Tug three pack in the locks

Not something you see often enough. Today's 15-ish mile ride to an appointment in the Pike Place market. Makes you forget another day of grey June-uary.

Breakfast among the bins and plane pupae in inter bay

Bees enjoying the improved weather

And a favorite stop at Renton field. A rewarding Saturday with clear warm skies by mid afternoon. After another day of "June-uary" this is icing on the cake. Plus it was a ride to burn off over 1,000 calories. I'm tired and content from a good ride with good company.

49 miles on SR-520 to Bellevue and Renton

Today's Saturday ride was a challenging extension for an in city route.
