Riding local, riding abroad. Doesn't matter. "One less car" bike commuting and "Bikes Belong" advocacy, plus "I ride solo" bicycle travel. Racing is fun, but there are so many equally great reasons to ride.

Auburn to Black Diamond and back on a often cloudy spring day
I found this ride harder than I'd expected. Maybe it was the fast and noisy traffic or too many barking dogs. It's more urban each time I ride it.

Centennial trail to welcome sun
My left knee has been troublesome from overuse on hard Parisian streets but I found a ride today that didn't exacerbate the pain. 19 miles on a lovely bike trail out of Snohomish with good views of snowy mountains through the barely budding bushes and plenty of frogs croaking. This week has been sunny so it's distressing to be injured.

Back in the saddle
Sunday was 47 miles and 2,000 feet elevation on my favorite Bay view to Lake Samish and Chuckanut Drive lollipop. Chilly with headwinds and occasional sun breaks. Not sure if I've done this one so early in the year before now. As gorgeous as ever but I was really really tired by the end. I hope it's just lingering jet lag.
