Started icy and overcast at dog sled parking but sun came out around 12:30pm. Next time skate. Classic ski is slow and awkward.

Today's high was 40, and it was chilly but dry and relaxing as only a mellow out of season ride can be. Just me and the snow geese.

My 2:5 ride. 24.7 miles (clockwise from
Mt. Vernon) Britt Rd., Dike Rd., to Fir Island then follow course of Skagit River, side trip to Snowgoose Produce (closed) then backtrack to Best Rd., cross over river and right on Beaver z marsh, left on Bradshaw then back to MV over bridge to start at MV transit. Without stopping this is a 2hr ride, on deserted roads in the fog, but stop to watch the flocks of plump snow geese. They're skittish so approach quietly. Brunch at Ristretto cafe in MV. Post ride snack at Skagit Valley Co op.
