Solitude in the clear cuts

A lot of roller coaster down and up, over rattling rotten divided bridges. I walked several as just too steep for my confidence level. All clear cuts, but softened by the extraordinary bloom of purple, lilac, pink and white fox glove. This year's wet cool summer must be appreciated by these flowers. Only saw fireweed on the turn west back along the ocean beaches. Light considerate traffic at 9:30a when I headed out, then minimal cars on the Clearwater road. Once past the stern warnings at the Olympic Corrections center "no stopping for 2 miles, don't pick up Hitch hikers" it was past 1:30 and a ravenous lunch of tuna, crackers, cherries and chocolate then mainly downhill for 12 miles on the Hoh mainline then a left turn for about 20 miles along 101 and closed Ruby Beach.
