Riding local, riding abroad. Doesn't matter. "One less car" bike commuting and "Bikes Belong" advocacy, plus "I ride solo" bicycle travel. Racing is fun, but there are so many equally great reasons to ride.

Day 2 AMS to GLA
Thursday was major traveling: 9 h flight from SEA, collect bags, clear immigration, recheck bags, clear TSA to get to KLM flight. Departed 12:20, arrived 12:55. Git bags and cleared UK immigration then get 300 pounds from ATM, sort old UK coins, get 10 pounds ticket to downtown on AirPort Express then navigate steep cracked pavement and awkward bike box plus duffel plus Brompton front carry bag. Exhausted, dehydrated, hungry in checking into Acorn hotel (Elderslie st) but helpful front reception. Ate my road supply of raisins, almonds and biscoff, made tea then 1 hour nap before unloading bike, pumped tires, compressed travel case and innards, and left with front desk when I went to The Drake gastropub for decent small plates and 1/2 pr glass of reasonable alcohol beer. Good waitress Lauren, then orientation walk back through the crescents of elegant IC19th sandstone row houses. This is a good overview of my route printed on the back of a tourist map of Glasgow. I find it so helpful to confirm geography. Early start tomorrow with a first bike ride 1.5 miles to Glasgow Queen S t Station.
