Riding local, riding abroad. Doesn't matter. "One less car" bike commuting and "Bikes Belong" advocacy, plus "I ride solo" bicycle travel. Racing is fun, but there are so many equally great reasons to ride.

Today’s route was 76 miles and 4,900’ elevation and I decided to use my brains and take a different route
I did 54 miles and 3,000 feet instead. I also swapped what I knew would be a disheartening slog, crawling late into camp after walking most of the elevation. Instead, I stayed in the saddle and negotiated the often fast and noisy traffic on 101 and the 7 miles of stupid racetrack that's 20 from Newport to Toledo. And I got to camp by 4pm! This is why I'm chuffed. Brains over brawn every time!
