This is part of the ongoing excavation site of Tenochtitlan, an Aztec temple complex uncovered by electricity workers in 1978. The Spaniards had systemically demolished the entire site, building the Metropolitan Cathedral on top to drive home their message of conquest. Like most museum in Mexico City, it's closed on Monday, so I'll need to come back to visit the museum.
