For my first exploration of Istanbul, I simply walked out of the guesthouse and turned left. I'm staying in Cankurtaran, so, before I knew it, I was walking on a promenade along Kennedy Cad, a fast moving highway that zooms srounythe sea ward facing walks of Topkapi palace. The rip along the rocks is very strong. Not sure I'd ever swim there, but it's popular with the suntanned mustachioed set. Zero women doing this I noted. Sexes are segregated here like in other Islamic countries I've visited.
