A warren of alleyways and hole in the wall shops selling jewelry, rugs, textiles, lamps, leather goods and trinkets. The shop owners have highly developed listening skills and they eavesdrop shamelessly on anything you might say, repeating words and responding in a manner just this side of impertinent. One demanded, as I walked by, "where are you going?" My quiet "none of your business" caused radar ears to repeat what he'd heard in a joking way.
They're annoying but generally harmless. One sure fire way to give it back in spades is to converse in an unknown language. Pity I don't speak mandarin. There are large groups of Chinese tourists but currently they're impenetrable to the carpet touts.
