Riding local, riding abroad. Doesn't matter. "One less car" bike commuting and "Bikes Belong" advocacy, plus "I ride solo" bicycle travel. Racing is fun, but there are so many equally great reasons to ride.

On Flatey Island
The quick stop on Flatey seen from the 2x/day ferry between Stykkisholmur ("Stykkis" according to some road signs, because they don't want you to miss the turn on account on the long name) and Brjanslaekur in the West Fjords. The solo touring cyclist is only one of several I've seen on the road today. It would be great to cycle tour here but the weather is definitely an issue. There aren't a lot of towns around so careful planning, loading self sufficiency and a tolerance for riding on shoulder less roads in windy conditions seems part of the package. I'm impressed to see so many.
