When you drive into town on the double wide Main Street (Thames) designed so that bullock teams could do U-turns, you get an eyeful of this neoclassical former bank of New South Wales by RA Lawson. The local limestone was put to good use, but the town got caught in a time warp before 1910. So the movie set heritage remained. One of those quirky things you find in NZ.
