Debrief on Day 26

This 67 mile hot as hell humid ride on 23 miles of no shoulder highway at the end after Marshall really wore me down. Constantly checking my helmet mirror for trucks barreling along and barely changing gears even if they pulled out was unnerving. The scenery was one tedious cornfield after the other. Few trees at the roadside for shade, and unrelenting upper 80s sun. I got to the Fairgrounds Park too late for a real shower at the aquatic center, and had little appetite as I was salty sweaty exhausted and sore with chafing on my seat. I set up a solar shower but had to wear clothes as it was a city park. A day I really doubted my decision to do this trip. I don't ride for the sake of riding. I want to see interesting places and beautiful scenery. So I took off Day 27 and 28 to do the van and let my behavior behind recover from developing saddle sores. At Watkins Mill SP I did laundry, but it was humid in camp, ants from careless campers and again another place worth exploring if I'd had time. But I don't on this trip so didn't do anything more than collect a few park brochures.
