Riding local, riding abroad. Doesn't matter. "One less car" bike commuting and "Bikes Belong" advocacy, plus "I ride solo" bicycle travel. Racing is fun, but there are so many equally great reasons to ride.

No time to dawdle
Got thunderstormed on and soaked. Stopped at Togwotee mountain lodge. Asked about a room (as if: beginning of 4th July long weekend) but bought snowmobilers leggings and wool socks to finish the 6% grade 17 miles off the pass and onto Moran Jct. It was a very scary ride. But my bike and my bike handling skills coped with 33+ mph in flooding rain. It meant I couldn't really enjoy the achievement of a nearly 10,000 foot pass and the big rolling meadows but that's how it goes. I'd neglected to pack rain pants and waterproof socks. I'm really not used to late afternoon mountain weather.
