Riding local, riding abroad. Doesn't matter. "One less car" bike commuting and "Bikes Belong" advocacy, plus "I ride solo" bicycle travel. Racing is fun, but there are so many equally great reasons to ride.

Approaching Lake Wakatipu, outside Queenstown
According to the backpackers in Glenorchy and the YHAs in Queenstown, everything is booked solid for Chinese New Year. I guess the Chinese have discovered tourism in NZ. I left Te Anau about 9am, deciding to head for a DOC campground off the Glenorchy Road, as I know that new tourists don't camp.
