Grateful liberated people give thanks to the Red Army

Apparently 20,000 Russians died in the final siege on Berlin, so at one point this was a heartfelt sentiment.
All war memorials are sad and ambiguous places. That's the way they should be.
It seems that war never ends, just changes locations and combatants.
This is a memorial as much to a political ideology that failed as it is to the long dead soldiers who died in the slaughter that was WW2.
